WMD found in IRAQ

I wonder how the libs are going to try to spin this:
"The Iraqi Survey Group confirmed today that a 155-millimeter artillery round containing sarin nerve agent had been found"

"The shell belonged to a class of ordnance that Saddam Hussein's government said was destroyed before the 1991 Gulf war"

Full Story

I thought there were no WMDs in Iraq? Where is Bill O'Reilly? Now I want another apology... lets hear an apology from all those who came out after waiting a few months after the war who, after not finding caches of weapons on every corner, decided there were no WMDs.

One of two things is going to happen... we are either going to hear a deafening silence out of the left OR they are going to try to downplay the story and spin it away with black helicopter theories.

I wonder if moveon.org is going to take down their petition to censure Bush for misleading us about Iraq having WMDs... I am not going to hold my breath.

Kerry's Daughter

yikes!
The daughter of the liberal Presidential candidate could at least DRESS conservatively...

Check out Drudge Report for the uncensored pic. I think Matt Drudge sent so much traffic to the site running the story that he crashed the server... I wasn't able to load the story.

Michael Moore is a Muckraker

Do not delude yourself, Michael Moore IS a muckraker... just not in the media, badge of courage, liberal, whistle-blower sense of the word.

No, Michael Moore is a muckraker in the literary sense. He is intent on raking up muck. He cannot look up to heaven because he is so obsessed with the muck of worldly profit. He cannot see the celestial crown.

Michael Moore makes his fortune off of the deaths of innocent Americans in Fahrenheit 9/11. He took a surprise attack, targeted at our brothers and sisters in New York and DC, and dishonors their memory by trying to pass the blame from the terrorist organization responsible for the attacks to the one man in this country with the vision to end this war once and for all.

I hope this film makes Michael Moore rich... let him take this blood money, this ill gotten gain, and let it make him hollow. Let him be welcome in France... I hope he stays there. I can't believe the families of Sept 11 have allowed him to profit off of the deaths of their family members... to use their corpses to make an extremist political point. It makes me sick to think about it.

Almost forgot...

I have been meaning to comment on a few stories for some time now.
First is J. Quinton's message a few weeks back about Federal Computer Weekly. The waffles Google Bomb had been mentioned by FCW, who wrote:
A Duquesne University Law School student has been trying to get the Web's major search engines to highlight John Kerry's official Web site whenever anyone searches for the word "waffles." The stunt worked for awhile, but eventually search engines got wind of the prank and cut it off.
I don't subscribe to FCW so I had no way to verify the story at the time; however, Larry of Extreme Psychosis had sent me a link to the online edition and J. Quinton eventually posted a scan of the story here. I had sent an email to FCW to ask about the story but never received a response. Since I have been able to verify the story, I will say the following:

They ought to print a retraction to correct their err AND they ought to practice more responsible journalism. It would have taken the author/editor less than a minute to do a search of the terms waffles... before the time the story went to print, we were already #1 on several search engines. This is sloppy journalism and FCW should be ashamed of such sloppy work.

That being said, I did receive an official confirmation that the waffles Google Bomb has been mentioned a few times on FM99 in Virginia, which is, as I understand it, one of the best Rock Stations in Virginia. My brother sent me a tip that he heard Tommy and Rumble discuss it on their morning show. Tommy responded to an email to confirm this, now I am trying to see if I can get any of the audio up on Esoteric Diatribe. It's the first radio station, that I know of, that has discussed the waffles Google Bomb.

The last thing I want to mention in this post is Bush over Kerry's (waffles inspired) MEGA GOOGLE BOMB. I think this is a great idea, if all conservatives Google bombed each other we'd all see our page rank raise on searches related to the campaign. I don't think we could displace Kerry or Bush's official sites, but we could find our sites topping off the lists. That being said, I will participate (eventually) I need to figure out how to change the links so they appear white on white and I will throw it into my template (I kinda know how to do that its just a matter of taking the time to add it). So... count me in. It is a good idea, for the most part, and I would be glad to participate.

Esoteric * Diatribe under fire

When I awoke yesterday morning I'd received an email that the waffles Google bomb had been mentioned on a major radio station in Va. I sent a quick email to the show hosts to confirm whether it had been mentioned and to ask for a transcript / audio (if they had it) so I could post it on my site. I haven't heard back from them, but I received an email this morning saying the show hosts were poking fun at the formality of my email. I won't link to the station until I can get a confirmation from the source or until someone can send me some audio so that I may confirm the mention. Regardless, it explains the increase in referrals from Google on a search of 'esoteric diatribe'

Apparently this station boasts one of the top audiences in the morning in for its broadcast area, so it is likely that more than a few people have now heard about the waffles campaign. I'm guessing that this person learned about Esoteric * Diatribe from the radio show. His/Her email is here. The site attempts to explain the meaning of esoteric, *, and diatribe. The essay is well written and rather humorous. It also suggests Google bombing this site with the text link to a. n. i. m. a. l. s. o. d. o. m. y. (I don't want that term to show up on my site). And at least one site has joined in.

I found it rather ironic that the second site wrote
Are you offended by Google-bombs? Do you take umbrage with people trying to arrest the democratic process that is PageRank?

Want to do something about it?

Join the ****** ****** Googlebomb Campaign! It's so simple to use, no wonder it's number 1!
. You are offended by Google bombs so you respond by joining an offensive Google bomb? Oh well, those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, I guess.

I really do wish them the best of luck. Every link to me boosts my page rank on other searches (like John Waffles Kerry) so let the bombs fall. Needless to say, I won't be looking up that query to see if they were successful.

There are two posts I have been meaning to get to for a long time, but alas, I am too busy to get to them now. Next up is my take on this story, and a mention of Bush over Kerry's clever MEGA GOOGLE BOMB

I will get it up asap. In the mean time:

No one has said it better than Darryl Worley has said it best:

I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground?
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start preaching
Let me ask you this my friend

Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it every day
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
After 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right

Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a living hell
And we vowed to get the ones behind Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fighting for

Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Yes, some went down like heroes in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost
And those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry 'bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?

Back

I am back. A little exhausted after the last two weeks, but I can now take a bit of a mental holiday of sorts. My new focus is finding summer employment. Esoteric * Diatribe is fun, but it doesn't pay the bills... in fact I haven't got much out of this site, except my name in the paper, the chance to influence (however slight) a national election, and some hate mail from some true wackos. Oddly, I've only relieved a handful of hateful emails a few weeks back, none since, so I guess that is a good thing.

Missing two weeks of updates kinda stinks. I missed the chance to comment on a lot of important stories. The two biggest stories in the media today are without a doubt the disappointing pictures from Abu Ghraib and the revolting "response" from Al Qaeda... I thought the left said there was no Al Qaeda link in Iraq?

My comments on Abu Ghraib... when the story broke I was crestfallen. Truly. I have engaged in internet discussions in which I have pointed to leftist agenda sites making accusations of Iraqi abuse, and murder at the hands of US soldiers as lacking credibility and making baseless charges. When those pictures were broadcast, it made me wrong, at least in part. The leftist agenda sites are still blowing things out of proportion, making baseless allegations, etc... but now they have evidence. Now their black helicopter-theory view of the world has been given a bit of credibility. The reason I was crestfallen was because now the lefty wacko's out there are gonna say "See! We told you so! We've been saying it all along!" I also knew this was going to become a political issue immediately... there was no question. None. The fact that this is still the top story on networks like CBS is telling.

The left (working in allegiance with the likes of Al Qaeda) is working so hard... so hard to sway the American support away from the War in Iraq. Do they not get it? Do they understand that if we fail in Iraq, Sept. 11th will be nothing more than a minor prelude? I will do an update tomorrow (with an Alternate Banner) to remind people about Sept 11th. I want you to see the horror of that day and tell me how outraged you are at seeing some pictures of Iraqis naked. I would never EVER condone our military forcing prisoners to rape or sodomize each other. It isn't right, BUT between that and say burning alive in the WTC... or maybe having your head cut off on camera... If you saw that video, then you understand what we are up against. These people are not human. They simply are not human. I thought about hosting the video on my site, but I can't do that... I just can't bring myself to do that.

I do think people should see the video. I do think the American people should not be able to turn on a television, or a radio, or open a newspaper without those horrifying graphic pictures being thrown in their face (kinda like what we are seeing out of Abu Gharaib). And I do not want to hear a single peep out of one more Senator, Congressman, or Government official... not a single word of outrage for what occurred 6 months ago in Abu Ghraib... I do want to hear the same outrage, nay, MORE concerning what happened to Nick Berg. 'cause when they spout off about how upset they are and how heads should roll maybe they should look at the sad irony of that statement and aim their outrage where it belongs... against America's Enemies, not our hero's.

And if you want to see some justified outrage, I have a little of my own on an unrelated story that no-one seems to have picked up on (and by picked up I mean it has been reported, but not properly analyzed). Red Cross: Iraqi Abuse Widespread, Routine. Before I start, please don't misunderstand where I am going with this... I am not upset about the possibility that Abu Ghraib might not be the exception, and rather the rule. This is troubling, but not the source of my outrage, so read the story first and then see what I have to say. The first line from the Al Quea Press, I mean Associated Press, was
Up to 90 percent of Iraqi detainees were arrested by mistake, according to coalition intelligence officers cited in a Red Cross report disclosed Monday.
Are you freaking kidding me? Seriously, are you freaking Kidding me? That is so absurd on its face that I don't think I need continue going further, Do I? Are we to honestly believe that 9 out of every 10 terrorists, killers, thieves, etc were completely innocent? Going beyond the absurdity of that charge on its face, the implication being that our army is so inept as occupiers that we cannot determine the innocent from the guilty and end up being wrong 9 times out of 10, going beyond that for just a second, lets ask the important follow up question... the question the AP reporter should have asked instead of just mindlessly repeating the charge.... HOW DID THE RED CROSS COME TO THIS DETERMINATION? The Red Cross Report cites "coalition intelligence officers" as the source... So we have the AP citing a Red Cross report citing unspecified intelligence officers... Did they make this determination, that 9 out of 10 detained Iraqi's were arrested by mistake, or were they just citing a figure... where did this number come from? It may as well have come from Daily Kos. Daily Kos made up the number, Al Jazeera reported it, an Iraqi council member repeated it, a spaniard intelligence officer crawling out on his belly mentioned it to the Red Cross, the Red Cross reported it to the the AP, and now I am bringing this number to you. 90% of Iraqi's are being arrested by mistake.... Rediculous, I want to where this number so readily repeated in the press really came from.

Lets move on...
While many detainees were quickly released or no longer mistreated after interrogation, high-ranking officials in Saddam Hussein's government - including those listed on the U.S. military's deck of cards - were held for months in solitary confinement, The Associated Press has learned.
The AP learned this from whom? The same Red Cross report that said 9 out of 10 prisoners in Iraq were innocent people? Did the AP fact check this with the same veracity as the first statement? Let's assume it is true, many people were questioned and quickly released (which makes sense... if you have 100 people and 10 are terrorists, and you don't know who is who, you let 9 go when you find out who they are and make sure they aren't a terrorist). Everyday millions of American's are detained by the police, and then set free. It’s called investigating. It includes traffic stops. If they arrest first and ask questions later in Iraq, quickly releasing the people who aren't a threat, is this a bad thing? Certainly not, it saves lives, both of our troops and the innocent Iraqi's but you wouldn't know it to read it in this context.

And the Iraqi Generals responsible for the murders of countless tens of thousands of Iraqi's and key to any potential resistance in Iraq... are we supposed to shed a tear that they have been kept in solitary confinement... something that is so humane compared to what would happen to them if they were released to the families of the people they have slaughtered... Are we supposed to feel bad for them?

Moving on...
The 24-page report by the International Committee of the Red Cross says abuse of Iraqi prisoners by American soldiers was broad and "not individual acts," contrary to President Bush's contention that the mistreatment "was the wrongdoing of a few."
Ahhh yes... the coup de grace... The Bush is wrong, Bush is lying statement. Thank you. This was the cherry on top. The article continues on, but all the heavy ammo is always laid out in the first few paragraphs... most people don't read beyond them and the news media knows that (which is why they make their point in the first few lines and then get to the actual story).

You want to see outrage... this Red Cross report outraged me. I am taking my red marker and make a cross off my list of organizations I will ever help to support. This story goes beyond ridiculous. It was reported by the Major Media and essentially swept under the rug or simply used to support the "larger" story in all of this... the Iraqi abuse scandal.

So I am back. I will be talking about a LOT of things a lot more in depth in the coming days... there is a lot for me to catch up on, but this post is a bit long and I need to get it updated before this evening turned into tomorrow morning.

Posting Resumes Today

Google Bomb Update

Esoteric Diatribe
Waffles

Since my last update, I have learned that a search of waffles now leads to John Kerry's site as the first result on BBCi. Also, Jeff of Backcountry Conservative informed me of an interesting story he mentioned over here. I am awaiting confirmation of the story via a pic or response from FCW before I make any further comments on the matter.

This morning I learned the Miami Herald mentioned the USA Today Article and mentioned the waffles effort on April 13th on their website. They were good enough to provide a link back to Esoteric * Diatribe. I have no clue if we received any ink in their paper, I kinda doubt it, if anyone knows for sure let me know. I noticed an err in their blurb, did you catch it? Miserable Failure doesn't lead to Bush's campaign site, it leads to his White House Biography. Little errors like that have been getting on my nerves lately... I think I need a vacation.

I'd like to welcome The Trommetter Times to the Waffles Campaign.

I have been receiving occasional reports that John Waffles Kerry's site fell to #28 in the ranking on MSN. Today I was able to confirm this, but as of the time of this post, we were back up at #1. MSN has added an "About" link to the result which serves to help explain search results. I'm not entirely sure if MSN will allow the waffles to remain #1... I suppose we can only wait and see.

Esoteric * Diatribe is going to be on a brief hiatus. I'll be back in about 2.5 weeks with a ton of updates. Keep sending me emails if something develops and I will make note of it when I return. It would be nice if I could work on this site full time, but there are other things in my life that take precedence... like academic obligations and searching for summer employment (anyone need a legal intern?).

More on Kerry... Moron Kerry

A big story is developing on the Drudge Report. I'm sure we have all heard the story of how Kerry threw his medals over the wall onto the White House Lawn in protest of the war (prior to his testifying before congress). A few years back, a reporter noticed Kerry's medals hanging in his office. When confronted, Kerry reportedly claimed that he threw someone else's medals onto the White House Lawn. Now Kerry claims:

He threw his ribbons over the wall?!? Reminds me of "...but I didn't inhale"

Drudge Report is reporting that ABC's Good Morning America will blow this story wide open by playing a 1971 TV clip of Kerry claiming to have thrown HIS medals over the wall...

This is going to be a long, painful campaign for Kerry. My advice to him: STOP LYING!

These flip flops only support the assertion that John waffles Kerry is a lying, waffling , waffler.

Did he throw the medals onto the White House Lawn or didn't he?
Did he commit war attrocities or didn't he?
Does he own an SUV or doesn't he?
Is he opposed to abortion or isn't he?
Did he vote to fund the troops or didn't he?
We all know the answers to these questions... so why doesn't Kerry? Maybe I had it wrong with waffles... Maybe it should have been liar.

Google does the right thing... caves to pressure

The folks over at Google have finally showed some backbone and have done the right thing. It took thousands of complaints, a few news articles, and a recent mention in Newsweek to get google to finally remove Jew Watch. This is an excellent sign, and deals with some of my worst fears about the future of the internet. Jew Watch can still be found in Google's indicies by looking up "Jew Watch."

What remains to be seen is whether Google is going to let this be the exception to their hands off rule, or will they start aggressively working to ensure the quality of their top links? Call it my cynical side coming out, but I think Google's response to the 'jew' fiasco might have more to do with this than any concern about the quality of their search results or doing what is right.

Waffles Campaign Update

Esoteric Diatribe
Waffles

I started this site 3 weeks ago. Amazing. In three weeks time, I've successfully manipulated the #1, #2, and #3 search engines in the world... well, it certainly wasn't just me... this would never have happened without the participation of all the sites that added waffles to their front page.

I had originally started this campaign in retaliation for the whole miserable failure thing. Click here if you want to see how the campaign progressed.

Since the campaign started, the waffles bomb effort has been mentioned in USA Today , The Pittsburgh Tribune Review, UK Unlimited, and Web Pro News. The effort has also been mentioned on Snopes.com and fark.com but neither gave a link back... ingrates. I have seen unconfirmed reports that the waffles effort was mentioned in a Bush Country newsletter and one of the recipents has been posting my name and website all over MSN news groups. Some pretty funny threads have emerged as a result.

If you haven't yet joined the campaign, get on board! Add this link to your site: waffles then Email me to let me know if you have joined the campaign and I will add you to my list of participants.

Fighting Evil

Click for the TRUTH
The Real Terror

I really just do NOT understand the anti-Bush crowd. I'm thinking Hannity is right: there IS evil in the world, and the libs just don't seem to get it. They were so many protests prior to the war with Iraq... people claiming to be concerned with human rights made signs calling Bush the true evil, saying Bush is worse than Saddam, that Bush is just like Hitler, and that Bush is the real terror in this world. I don't imagine anyone who comes across Esoteric * Diatribe has ever been so disillusioned, but in the off chance that you thought the war in Iraq was the wrong thing to do, click on the picture and educate yourself.

Hero Fallen

It has been a busy news day, and I regret to inform site goers that a true American Hero has fallen... Click below for more details.
Tragic news from ABC
ABC NEWS

Kerry and the Environment - Do as we say, not as we do.

I saw Kerry's motorcade drive through when he was in town a week or two ago. A lot of SUV's in that bunch... Today I received an email from Poli Pundit with a link to this video (real player required). Kerry showed up to an Earth Day rally - where the theme of the rally was the "How sport utility vehicles are contributing to greenhouse gas emissions, and how fuel efficiency is important to the environment - in his motorcade of 'Gas Guzzlers.'

I also recalled seeing...
Screen Cap of Drudge Report
Drudge Report

Here is the story.

Bush/Rice?

I don't for a second believe that Bush is going to drop Cheney from the ticket, primarily because he said Cheney would be his runningmate. I am thinking nothing short of Cheney removing his name from the ticket will result in anything but a Bush/Cheney ticket for 2004. Regardless, I came across this site BushRice.org and thought it was interesting. I also signed the petition. I think Rice is not only capable and a good potential choice for VP, but it would say a lot about the Republican party and conservatism in general... It might even put to rest the liberal lies that conservatives are bigoted hate mongers.

Another Day, Another Picture

Ha! Didn't need photshop for this one either.

Breaking News - The Waffler Strikes Again!

Esoteric Diatribe
Waffles

John Waffles Kerry has waffled on yet another campaign issue. This time it is abortion. Matt Drudge reports: "KERRY ABORTION FLIP: ADVOCATED 'STATE ISSUE'"

Matt Drudge writes [I edited this out since Drudge requires permission to repost what appears on his site. I don't want people taking anything from my site without permission, so I am taking it down until I learn his policy on quoting Drudge Exclusives]

So Kerry has flipfloped once again... Once openly delcaring an anti-abortion position and advocating state's rights only to reverse, now advocating abortion as a woman's right.

Visit Drudge to read more on this developing story.

Google Bombs

Here is an example of what Kerry is allowing people to do. I wonder how long it will be up...

The waffles bomb worked. The jew bomb worked in that Jew Watch is no longer the top site on a google search... but this is not enough. Well... Jew Watch is back on top...(sigh) looks like they had some more of their racist buds join their sick Google Bomb. Taking Jew Watch from the top slot was is a great thing for bloggers to do... but we shouldn't have had to.

Google Bombing is not just for political jabbing back and forth... its a method of attack. It is a method of swaying public opinion and distorting what information is available to the world. Control the information, and the world is your playground. Without adequate checks, that being any enforceable responsibility or duty on the part of Yahoo, Google, or MSN (etc) search engines, the internet will eventually be taken over by extremists vai organized disinformation campaigns.

Jew Watch is the first NOTABLE instance, that I am aware of, where extremists were able to top the Google search lists in order to propagate their hate speech and evil agenda. It was but a single instance, though; there are many extremist agenda sites bent on disinforming anyone who will listen in order to gain political sway.

Many searches, particularly those related to American military actions, often lead to agenda sites which report unverified, unsubstantiated, and in many cases untrue "news" stories. Query areas which have been affected the most involve the environment, animal treatment, human rights, gun control, and any other political issue (on a national or international basis).

The internet allows for unchecked speech to a global community. This, in and if itself, is not a problem; but when minority-agenda groups, who lie and distort in order to achieve their goals, catapult their sites to the top of the search results through easily exploitable search engines, then we have a problem. This is the sort of problem that is only going to get worse as more people learn how easily search engines are exploited.

For more of my thoughts on the matter, check here. In the mean time, I think that every Blogger offended by Jew Watch ought to Google Bomb every non-hate site in the top 20 of a search of the term jew. Lets not get ahead of ourselves... Lets get it out of the top spot (again), then we can focus on moving it down in the results. jew jew jew jew jew jew jew jew jew jew jew jew

Kerry's Site Attacked

Alright, I know this is OLD news, but I hadn't had a chance yet to comment on it (I was too busy with the waffles campaign). Kerry's election site had allowed unscreened, unregistered comments to be posted by Kerry Supporters in order to raise campaign funds. Rookie mistake... a lot of conservatives took the opportunity to make a fool of Kerry.

This one was my favorite (I reworked the screen shot so that it would look a bit more realistic). See more screen shots here
Oh, and this pic is hilarious.

Update: Hahaha Way to go Dizzy Girl
I'd like to give another shout-out to my homegirl Condi and boy Dubya. Holla!

More on Kerry... Moron Kerry

I found an excellent site chronicling Kerry's statements post Vietnam. Here is the transcript of Kerry's testimony before Congress.

Here we have the Democratic Candidate for the President of the United States of America admitting to committing war crimes and war atrocities. Where is the outrage? Where are the peace activists and human rights watch groups marching in the streets at the very notion that John Kerry, an admitted War Criminal, should be the (presumed) Democratic nominee for the 2004 Presidential Election? Human rights groups and peace activists have called George Bush a Terrorist... a TERRORIST for taking the necessary steps to secure and preserve our freedoms! Why do they remain silent on Kerry's admission?

Kerry didn't waffle when he made those statements for Meet the Press on April 18, 1971. Watch what he had to say, though, on Meet the Press on May 6, 2004
Source of clips.

So I ask again, is Senator Kerry a liar, and unworthy of the American People's faith and trust, or is he, as he has admitted, a War Criminal who violated the Geneva Convention? I hope Senator Kerry doesn't choke on all the waffles.

Some Kerry News

Taken from rnc.org:
John Kerry told Tim Russert on "Meet the Press" Sunday that he had released all his military records.

He hadn't.

Jeanne Shaheen on Fox and CNN said Senator Kerry's military records were posted on his campaign website.

They weren't.

Senator Kerry served from 1966 to 1978. If he did not intend to release all his officer evaluations, records of attendance including reserve duty attendance, medical records and all other military records held by him or the government, he should not have pledged to do so. He and his campaign should stop the word games and keep the pledge he made on national television.
Kerry said a lot of things on "Meet The Press" Read what he said here.

Some quotes of interest to me:
...Americans are going to hear the truth, which has been sorely lacking from the political discussion of our country.
I couldn't agree more. The irrational hatred of Bush and the absurd allegations coming out of the left have created a carnival atmosphere instead of serious debate. If Kerry would stop lying about Bush, we could have a serious debate about the future of this country. Until then, I imagine the mud will continue to fly back and forth... and it will not work to Kerry's advantage

This administration misled America.
I sure hear that allegation a lot from the left... I have yet to hear them back it up.
What did this administration do to mislead the American public? Kerry had access to all the same intelligence info and came to the same exact conclusions the president did... he even voted to send our troops over, so how exactly did the administration mislead Sen. Kerry into making that decision?
Nothing is more important than how a president takes a nation to war, how a president decides to put young men and women at risk for our nation. I believe this president broke faith with the rules of how a president does that.
Rules? I have a degree in political science. I don't ever recall coming across a set of rules that the president must abide by before sending troops over seas. The president cannot keep troops over seas for more than 90 days without seeking Congressional approval... which Sen. Kerry voted for, but beyond that the president can do just about anything to keep America safe. America is safer with Saddam deposed of, the Iraqi people are safer with Saddam deposed of, the entire world is safer with Saddam deposed of... and the President did not break any "rules" in order to achieve this result.

[In an earlier interview Kerry had been asked] If that amendment does not pass, will you then vote against the $87 billion?]

[In the earlier interview Kerry responded] I don't think any United States senator is going abandon our troops and recklessly leave Iraq to whatever follows as a result of simply cutting and running. That's irresponsible. ...I don't think anyone in Congress is going to not give our troops ammunition, not give our troops the ability to be able to defend themselves.]
[Russert then asked] And yet you voted against that very amount of money.

SEN. KERRY: There's nothing inconsistent in either of those statements
WHAT?!?! Maybe not inconsistent if you are a horrible, lying, waffling, say-anything-to-get-elected Senator named John Kerry
...and that advertisement displays really how sad and full of distortion, almost pathetic, the Republican approach to this is. First of all, they had a series of no's: Mr. Kerry on this; no. Mr. Kerry on this; no. It wasn't a series of votes. It was one vote and that is a distortion to the American people.
What is your point? You still, in your own words, " abandon[ed] our troops and recklessly [left] Iraq to whatever follows as a result of simply cutting and running [by] ... irresponsibl[y] giv[ing] our troops ammunition, [and] not giv[ing] our troops the ability to be able to defend themselves."

Secondly, that vote would never have prevented any of the body armor, ammunition or anything from getting to our troops. That's a lie. That's just an outright lie. In fact, the president of the United States himself, Tim, threatened to veto that very bill if we put health care for Reservists in the bill. The president threatened to veto that bill if we had loans instead of a grant. Think of that. The president threatened to veto that bill, and yet he is now accusing me for voting no.
You did vote no, Senator Kerry. There is simply no excusing your action.

Secondly,
I thought you just did secondly...
I voted to have that bill paid for by reducing the tax cut to the wealthiest Americans so we would be responsible fiscally and that was a way to do it. Now, when they weren't willing to do that and they weren't willing to change their policy to bring other nations to the table to reduce the cost to Americans, you're darn right I voted against it because one of the lessons I learned in Vietnam is when the policy is wrong, fix it, and I voted to fix it.
So you voted to put the lives of our soldiers at risk because you wanted to raise taxes on the rich? I am sorry, but this absolutely disgusting... Why not make cuts to some of the pork-barrel legislation and practice fiscal responsibility when it comes to bloated domestic programs before we roll back the tax-cuts which brought our country out of recession.
MR. RUSSERT: If there's another bill to provide money for the troops, you'll vote against it again?

SEN. KERRY: It depends entirely on what the situation is, Tim. I'm not going to say that. What I'm saying is even the generals in Iraq said the money in that bill had no impact on their ability to continue to fight.
Which generals have said that? How does Kerry get a pass on statements like this? Wasn't Kerry recently criticizing Bush for not properly supplying our troops? Haven't there been stories in the press about how our soldiers lack necessary supplies including, but not limited to, ammo, rations, and body armor?
We had money all the way through January, and if my vote had been the deciding vote, you know as well as the president knows, as well as every Republican knows, that if I'd been the deciding vote, we would have sat down at a table, we have worked out exactly how we were going to do this intelligently and we would have had a better bill. That's how you change policy. You stand up for principle. That was a vote for principle.
Yes. The principle of putting politics before our soldier's lives. Congratulations, Senator Kerry. There are SOME issues that you don't waffle on... To bad the only time you show consistency is to the detriment of our soldiers, tax payers, gun owners, etc.
MR. RUSSERT: You do not believe the war on terror is primarily a military operation, not a law enfor...

SEN. KERRY: No...

MR. RUSSERT: You don't.

SEN. KERRY: ...not primarily.

MR. RUSSERT: You don't.

SEN. KERRY: Not primarily.

MR. RUSSERT: You do not.

SEN. KERRY: Not primarily.
This is classic. It seems like Russert can't believe what Kerry is saying. Who knows what Kerry really believes... When he changes his mind, waffles, and flips back and forth on the issue, he just denies that he is doing it and changes the subject.
[Russert] ...Are you concerned that you're sending the wrong message to the troops by not showing solidarity in terms of the war in Iraq? And have you broken your pledge?

SEN. KERRY: No, I haven't.
Just like you didn't during Vietnam, eh?

If you haven't read the entire transcript, do it... It is a MUST READ. Russert did an amazing job with this interview. His stock went way up, as far as I am concerned. I really don't have time to go through more in the article so I will leave you with this last bit:
MR. RUSSERT: Before we take a break, I want to talk about Vietnam. You are a decorated war hero of Vietnam, prominently used in your advertising. You first appeared on MEET THE PRESS back in 1971, your first appearance. I want to roll what you told the country then and come back and talk about it:

(Videotape, MEET THE PRESS, April 18, 1971):

MR. KERRY (Vietnam Veterans Against the War): There are all kinds of atrocities and I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed in that I took part in shootings in free-fire zones. I conducted harassment and interdiction fire. I used 50-caliber machine guns which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people. I took part in search-and-destroy missions, in the burning of villages. All of this is contrary to the laws of warfare. All of this is contrary to the Geneva Conventions and all of this ordered as a matter of written established policy by the government of the United States from the top down. And I believe that the men who designed these, the men who designed the free-fire zone, the men who ordered us, the men who signed off the air raid strike areas, I think these men, by the letter of the law, the same letter of the law that tried Lieutenant Calley, are war criminals.

(End videotape)

MR. RUSSERT: You committed atrocities.

SEN. KERRY: Where did all that dark hair go, Tim? That's a big question for me. You know, I thought a lot, for a long time, about that period of time, the things we said, and I think the word is a bad word. I think it's an inappropriate word. I mean, if you wanted to ask me have you ever made mistakes in your life, sure. I think some of the language that I used was a language that reflected an anger. It was honest, but it was in anger, it was a little bit excessive.

MR. RUSSERT: You used the word "war criminals."

SEN. KERRY: Well, let me just finish. Let me must finish. It was, I think, a reflection of the kind of times we found ourselves in and I don't like it when I hear it today. I don't like it, but I want you to notice that at the end, I wasn't talking about the soldiers and the soldiers' blame, and my great regret is, I hope no soldier--I mean, I think some soldiers were angry at me for that, and I understand that and I regret that, because I love them. But the words were honest but on the other hand, they were a little bit over the top. And I think that there were breaches of the Geneva Conventions. There were policies in place that were not acceptable according to the laws of warfare, and everybody knows that. I mean, books have chronicled that, so I'm not going to walk away from that. But I wish I had found a way to say it in a less abrasive way.

MR. RUSSERT: But, Senator, when you testified before the Senate, you talked about some of the hearings you had observed at the winter soldiers meeting and you said that people had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and on and on. A lot of those stories have been discredited, and in hindsight was your testimony...

SEN. KERRY: Actually, a lot of them have been documented.

MR. RUSSERT: So you stand by that?

SEN. KERRY: A lot of those stories have been documented. Have some been discredited? Sure, they have, Tim. The problem is that's not where the focus should have been....
So which is it, Senator Kerry? Are you a liar and perjurer or an admitted war criminal?

Google: Bombed

A search of the term waffles now consistently leads to John Kerry's election site on Google. Good job everyone! I will continue to update the list of participants and make occasional updates on the waffles campaign, but it will no longer be the sole focus of this blog.

I have received a number of suggestions for additional google bombs. Whereas I am not going to attempt to spearhead the following google bombs as I did with the waffles google bomb, I thought I'd share some of the ones I felt worthy of mention.

Google and Kerry in Cahoots?

It seems Kerry is buying advertising on a Google search of the term waffles. His site still doesn't show up consistently as #1 despite our clearly having enough support for Kerry to top off the list at Google, and now the left's google bomb of the term waffle shows up in the top 20 at google after only 5 or 6 days. As far as I have been able to tell, only 3 or 4 lib sites are actually participating in that google bomb (of course many more must be participating, but technorati sure isn't finding them.) The left is also apparently google bombing the term waffles in addition to waffle and have been able to get into the top 10 on yahoo and lycos. I am not going to say that something isn't quite right about all of this, I'll leave it to you to decide.

Added to the waffles campaign since the last update:
No Mayo
Dave's Mostly Mets Blog
Liberal Utopia
Pennsylvanian In Exile
Mt Virtus
Paul's Down Home Page
There are many more, but I don't have time to keep looking all of the participants up. Email me if you know of a site not on the list.

Google Bomb Update

Esoteric Diatribe
Waffles

It looks like the left is having some success with their waffle bomb. Odd, the President has kept his word on every issue I can think of: Medicare, Education, Tax Cuts, The War on Terror, Iraq... John waffles Kerry, on the other hand, has been waffling on America's Security, our Soldiers Safety, the state of the Economy, his Vietnam War History, the status of America's Enemies, Tax Cuts, this list could go on ad naseum. The response from the left, although unoriginal and unbefitting of President Bush, is not unexpected. In fact, with any luck it will help raise awareness to the problems with Google Bombing.

We are going to need more support if we want to keep John waffles Kerry on top. If you know a webmaster who doesn't want the White House to become the Waffle House, get them on board and let me know so I can add them to the list.

Web searchers continue to sporadically find John waffles Kerry atop the results of Google. These results are still not consistent, but would seem to indicate that Google is NOT discriminating against the waffles campaign. Want to see how we are doing?
