Google Bomb Update

Esoteric Diatribe
Waffles

Since my last update, I have learned that a search of waffles now leads to John Kerry's site as the first result on BBCi. Also, Jeff of Backcountry Conservative informed me of an interesting story he mentioned over here. I am awaiting confirmation of the story via a pic or response from FCW before I make any further comments on the matter.

This morning I learned the Miami Herald mentioned the USA Today Article and mentioned the waffles effort on April 13th on their website. They were good enough to provide a link back to Esoteric * Diatribe. I have no clue if we received any ink in their paper, I kinda doubt it, if anyone knows for sure let me know. I noticed an err in their blurb, did you catch it? Miserable Failure doesn't lead to Bush's campaign site, it leads to his White House Biography. Little errors like that have been getting on my nerves lately... I think I need a vacation.

I'd like to welcome The Trommetter Times to the Waffles Campaign.

I have been receiving occasional reports that John Waffles Kerry's site fell to #28 in the ranking on MSN. Today I was able to confirm this, but as of the time of this post, we were back up at #1. MSN has added an "About" link to the result which serves to help explain search results. I'm not entirely sure if MSN will allow the waffles to remain #1... I suppose we can only wait and see.

Esoteric * Diatribe is going to be on a brief hiatus. I'll be back in about 2.5 weeks with a ton of updates. Keep sending me emails if something develops and I will make note of it when I return. It would be nice if I could work on this site full time, but there are other things in my life that take precedence... like academic obligations and searching for summer employment (anyone need a legal intern?).

More on Kerry... Moron Kerry

A big story is developing on the Drudge Report. I'm sure we have all heard the story of how Kerry threw his medals over the wall onto the White House Lawn in protest of the war (prior to his testifying before congress). A few years back, a reporter noticed Kerry's medals hanging in his office. When confronted, Kerry reportedly claimed that he threw someone else's medals onto the White House Lawn. Now Kerry claims:

He threw his ribbons over the wall?!? Reminds me of "...but I didn't inhale"

Drudge Report is reporting that ABC's Good Morning America will blow this story wide open by playing a 1971 TV clip of Kerry claiming to have thrown HIS medals over the wall...

This is going to be a long, painful campaign for Kerry. My advice to him: STOP LYING!

These flip flops only support the assertion that John waffles Kerry is a lying, waffling , waffler.

Did he throw the medals onto the White House Lawn or didn't he?
Did he commit war attrocities or didn't he?
Does he own an SUV or doesn't he?
Is he opposed to abortion or isn't he?
Did he vote to fund the troops or didn't he?
We all know the answers to these questions... so why doesn't Kerry? Maybe I had it wrong with waffles... Maybe it should have been liar.

Google does the right thing... caves to pressure

The folks over at Google have finally showed some backbone and have done the right thing. It took thousands of complaints, a few news articles, and a recent mention in Newsweek to get google to finally remove Jew Watch. This is an excellent sign, and deals with some of my worst fears about the future of the internet. Jew Watch can still be found in Google's indicies by looking up "Jew Watch."

What remains to be seen is whether Google is going to let this be the exception to their hands off rule, or will they start aggressively working to ensure the quality of their top links? Call it my cynical side coming out, but I think Google's response to the 'jew' fiasco might have more to do with this than any concern about the quality of their search results or doing what is right.

Waffles Campaign Update

Esoteric Diatribe
Waffles

I started this site 3 weeks ago. Amazing. In three weeks time, I've successfully manipulated the #1, #2, and #3 search engines in the world... well, it certainly wasn't just me... this would never have happened without the participation of all the sites that added waffles to their front page.

I had originally started this campaign in retaliation for the whole miserable failure thing. Click here if you want to see how the campaign progressed.

Since the campaign started, the waffles bomb effort has been mentioned in USA Today , The Pittsburgh Tribune Review, UK Unlimited, and Web Pro News. The effort has also been mentioned on Snopes.com and fark.com but neither gave a link back... ingrates. I have seen unconfirmed reports that the waffles effort was mentioned in a Bush Country newsletter and one of the recipents has been posting my name and website all over MSN news groups. Some pretty funny threads have emerged as a result.

If you haven't yet joined the campaign, get on board! Add this link to your site: waffles then Email me to let me know if you have joined the campaign and I will add you to my list of participants.

The Real Terror

I really just do NOT understand the anti-Bush crowd. I'm thinking Hannity is right: there IS evil in the world, and the libs just don't seem to get it. They were so many protests prior to the war with Iraq... people claiming to be concerned with human rights made signs calling Bush the true evil, saying Bush is worse than Saddam, that Bush is just like Hitler, and that Bush is the real terror in this world. I don't imagine anyone who comes across Esoteric * Diatribe has ever been so disillusioned, but in the off chance that you thought the war in Iraq was the wrong thing to do, click on the picture and educate yourself.

Hero Fallen

It has been a busy news day, and I regret to inform site goers that a true American Hero has fallen... Click below for more details.
Tragic news from ABC

Kerry and the Environment - Do as we say, not as we do.

I saw Kerry's motorcade drive through when he was in town a week or two ago. A lot of SUV's in that bunch... Today I received an email from Poli Pundit with a link to this video (real player required). Kerry showed up to an Earth Day rally - where the theme of the rally was the "How sport utility vehicles are contributing to greenhouse gas emissions, and how fuel efficiency is important to the environment - in his motorcade of 'Gas Guzzlers.'

I also recalled seeing...

Here is the story.

Bush/Rice?

I don't for a second believe that Bush is going to drop Cheney from the ticket, primarily because he said Cheney would be his runningmate. I am thinking nothing short of Cheney removing his name from the ticket will result in anything but a Bush/Cheney ticket for 2004. Regardless, I came across this site BushRice.org and thought it was interesting. I also signed the petition. I think Rice is not only capable and a good potential choice for VP, but it would say a lot about the Republican party and conservatism in general... It might even put to rest the liberal lies that conservatives are bigoted hate mongers.

Breaking News - The Waffler Strikes Again!

Esoteric Diatribe
Waffles

John Waffles Kerry has waffled on yet another campaign issue. This time it is abortion. Matt Drudge reports: "KERRY ABORTION FLIP: ADVOCATED 'STATE ISSUE'"

Matt Drudge writes [I edited this out since Drudge requires permission to repost what appears on his site. I don't want people taking anything from my site without permission, so I am taking it down until I learn his policy on quoting Drudge Exclusives]

So Kerry has flipfloped once again... Once openly delcaring an anti-abortion position and advocating state's rights only to reverse, now advocating abortion as a woman's right.

Visit Drudge to read more on this developing story.

Google Bombs

Here is an example of what Kerry is allowing people to do. I wonder how long it will be up...

The waffles bomb worked. The jew bomb worked in that Jew Watch is no longer the top site on a google search... but this is not enough. Well... Jew Watch is back on top...(sigh) looks like they had some more of their racist buds join their sick Google Bomb. Taking Jew Watch from the top slot was is a great thing for bloggers to do... but we shouldn't have had to.

Google Bombing is not just for political jabbing back and forth... its a method of attack. It is a method of swaying public opinion and distorting what information is available to the world. Control the information, and the world is your playground. Without adequate checks, that being any enforceable responsibility or duty on the part of Yahoo, Google, or MSN (etc) search engines, the internet will eventually be taken over by extremists vai organized disinformation campaigns.

Jew Watch is the first NOTABLE instance, that I am aware of, where extremists were able to top the Google search lists in order to propagate their hate speech and evil agenda. It was but a single instance, though; there are many extremist agenda sites bent on disinforming anyone who will listen in order to gain political sway.

Many searches, particularly those related to American military actions, often lead to agenda sites which report unverified, unsubstantiated, and in many cases untrue "news" stories. Query areas which have been affected the most involve the environment, animal treatment, human rights, gun control, and any other political issue (on a national or international basis).

The internet allows for unchecked speech to a global community. This, in and if itself, is not a problem; but when minority-agenda groups, who lie and distort in order to achieve their goals, catapult their sites to the top of the search results through easily exploitable search engines, then we have a problem. This is the sort of problem that is only going to get worse as more people learn how easily search engines are exploited.

For more of my thoughts on the matter, check here. In the mean time, I think that every Blogger offended by Jew Watch ought to Google Bomb every non-hate site in the top 20 of a search of the term jew. Lets not get ahead of ourselves... Lets get it out of the top spot (again), then we can focus on moving it down in the results. jew jew jew jew jew jew jew jew jew jew jew jew

Kerry's Site Attacked

Alright, I know this is OLD news, but I hadn't had a chance yet to comment on it (I was too busy with the waffles campaign). Kerry's election site had allowed unscreened, unregistered comments to be posted by Kerry Supporters in order to raise campaign funds. Rookie mistake... a lot of conservatives took the opportunity to make a fool of Kerry.

This one was my favorite (I reworked the screen shot so that it would look a bit more realistic). See more screen shots here
Oh, and this pic is hilarious.

Update: Hahaha Way to go Dizzy Girl
I'd like to give another shout-out to my homegirl Condi and boy Dubya. Holla!

More on Kerry... Moron Kerry

I found an excellent site chronicling Kerry's statements post Vietnam. Here is the transcript of Kerry's testimony before Congress.

Here we have the Democratic Candidate for the President of the United States of America admitting to committing war crimes and war atrocities. Where is the outrage? Where are the peace activists and human rights watch groups marching in the streets at the very notion that John Kerry, an admitted War Criminal, should be the (presumed) Democratic nominee for the 2004 Presidential Election? Human rights groups and peace activists have called George Bush a Terrorist... a TERRORIST for taking the necessary steps to secure and preserve our freedoms! Why do they remain silent on Kerry's admission?

Kerry didn't waffle when he made those statements for Meet the Press on April 18, 1971. Watch what he had to say, though, on Meet the Press on May 6, 2004
Source of clips.

So I ask again, is Senator Kerry a liar, and unworthy of the American People's faith and trust, or is he, as he has admitted, a War Criminal who violated the Geneva Convention? I hope Senator Kerry doesn't choke on all the waffles.

Some Kerry News

Taken from rnc.org:
John Kerry told Tim Russert on "Meet the Press" Sunday that he had released all his military records.

He hadn't.

Jeanne Shaheen on Fox and CNN said Senator Kerry's military records were posted on his campaign website.

They weren't.

Senator Kerry served from 1966 to 1978. If he did not intend to release all his officer evaluations, records of attendance including reserve duty attendance, medical records and all other military records held by him or the government, he should not have pledged to do so. He and his campaign should stop the word games and keep the pledge he made on national television.
Kerry said a lot of things on "Meet The Press" Read what he said here.

Some quotes of interest to me:
...Americans are going to hear the truth, which has been sorely lacking from the political discussion of our country.
I couldn't agree more. The irrational hatred of Bush and the absurd allegations coming out of the left have created a carnival atmosphere instead of serious debate. If Kerry would stop lying about Bush, we could have a serious debate about the future of this country. Until then, I imagine the mud will continue to fly back and forth... and it will not work to Kerry's advantage

This administration misled America.
I sure hear that allegation a lot from the left... I have yet to hear them back it up.
What did this administration do to mislead the American public? Kerry had access to all the same intelligence info and came to the same exact conclusions the president did... he even voted to send our troops over, so how exactly did the administration mislead Sen. Kerry into making that decision?
Nothing is more important than how a president takes a nation to war, how a president decides to put young men and women at risk for our nation. I believe this president broke faith with the rules of how a president does that.
Rules? I have a degree in political science. I don't ever recall coming across a set of rules that the president must abide by before sending troops over seas. The president cannot keep troops over seas for more than 90 days without seeking Congressional approval... which Sen. Kerry voted for, but beyond that the president can do just about anything to keep America safe. America is safer with Saddam deposed of, the Iraqi people are safer with Saddam deposed of, the entire world is safer with Saddam deposed of... and the President did not break any "rules" in order to achieve this result.

[In an earlier interview Kerry had been asked] If that amendment does not pass, will you then vote against the $87 billion?]

[In the earlier interview Kerry responded] I don't think any United States senator is going abandon our troops and recklessly leave Iraq to whatever follows as a result of simply cutting and running. That's irresponsible. ...I don't think anyone in Congress is going to not give our troops ammunition, not give our troops the ability to be able to defend themselves.]
[Russert then asked] And yet you voted against that very amount of money.

SEN. KERRY: There's nothing inconsistent in either of those statements
WHAT?!?! Maybe not inconsistent if you are a horrible, lying, waffling, say-anything-to-get-elected Senator named John Kerry
...and that advertisement displays really how sad and full of distortion, almost pathetic, the Republican approach to this is. First of all, they had a series of no's: Mr. Kerry on this; no. Mr. Kerry on this; no. It wasn't a series of votes. It was one vote and that is a distortion to the American people.
What is your point? You still, in your own words, " abandon[ed] our troops and recklessly [left] Iraq to whatever follows as a result of simply cutting and running [by] ... irresponsibl[y] giv[ing] our troops ammunition, [and] not giv[ing] our troops the ability to be able to defend themselves."

Secondly, that vote would never have prevented any of the body armor, ammunition or anything from getting to our troops. That's a lie. That's just an outright lie. In fact, the president of the United States himself, Tim, threatened to veto that very bill if we put health care for Reservists in the bill. The president threatened to veto that bill if we had loans instead of a grant. Think of that. The president threatened to veto that bill, and yet he is now accusing me for voting no.
You did vote no, Senator Kerry. There is simply no excusing your action.

Secondly,
I thought you just did secondly...
I voted to have that bill paid for by reducing the tax cut to the wealthiest Americans so we would be responsible fiscally and that was a way to do it. Now, when they weren't willing to do that and they weren't willing to change their policy to bring other nations to the table to reduce the cost to Americans, you're darn right I voted against it because one of the lessons I learned in Vietnam is when the policy is wrong, fix it, and I voted to fix it.
So you voted to put the lives of our soldiers at risk because you wanted to raise taxes on the rich? I am sorry, but this absolutely disgusting... Why not make cuts to some of the pork-barrel legislation and practice fiscal responsibility when it comes to bloated domestic programs before we roll back the tax-cuts which brought our country out of recession.
MR. RUSSERT: If there's another bill to provide money for the troops, you'll vote against it again?

SEN. KERRY: It depends entirely on what the situation is, Tim. I'm not going to say that. What I'm saying is even the generals in Iraq said the money in that bill had no impact on their ability to continue to fight.
Which generals have said that? How does Kerry get a pass on statements like this? Wasn't Kerry recently criticizing Bush for not properly supplying our troops? Haven't there been stories in the press about how our soldiers lack necessary supplies including, but not limited to, ammo, rations, and body armor?
We had money all the way through January, and if my vote had been the deciding vote, you know as well as the president knows, as well as every Republican knows, that if I'd been the deciding vote, we would have sat down at a table, we have worked out exactly how we were going to do this intelligently and we would have had a better bill. That's how you change policy. You stand up for principle. That was a vote for principle.
Yes. The principle of putting politics before our soldier's lives. Congratulations, Senator Kerry. There are SOME issues that you don't waffle on... To bad the only time you show consistency is to the detriment of our soldiers, tax payers, gun owners, etc.
MR. RUSSERT: You do not believe the war on terror is primarily a military operation, not a law enfor...

SEN. KERRY: No...

MR. RUSSERT: You don't.

SEN. KERRY: ...not primarily.

MR. RUSSERT: You don't.

SEN. KERRY: Not primarily.

MR. RUSSERT: You do not.

SEN. KERRY: Not primarily.
This is classic. It seems like Russert can't believe what Kerry is saying. Who knows what Kerry really believes... When he changes his mind, waffles, and flips back and forth on the issue, he just denies that he is doing it and changes the subject.
[Russert] ...Are you concerned that you're sending the wrong message to the troops by not showing solidarity in terms of the war in Iraq? And have you broken your pledge?

SEN. KERRY: No, I haven't.
Just like you didn't during Vietnam, eh?

If you haven't read the entire transcript, do it... It is a MUST READ. Russert did an amazing job with this interview. His stock went way up, as far as I am concerned. I really don't have time to go through more in the article so I will leave you with this last bit:
MR. RUSSERT: Before we take a break, I want to talk about Vietnam. You are a decorated war hero of Vietnam, prominently used in your advertising. You first appeared on MEET THE PRESS back in 1971, your first appearance. I want to roll what you told the country then and come back and talk about it:

(Videotape, MEET THE PRESS, April 18, 1971):

MR. KERRY (Vietnam Veterans Against the War): There are all kinds of atrocities and I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed in that I took part in shootings in free-fire zones. I conducted harassment and interdiction fire. I used 50-caliber machine guns which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people. I took part in search-and-destroy missions, in the burning of villages. All of this is contrary to the laws of warfare. All of this is contrary to the Geneva Conventions and all of this ordered as a matter of written established policy by the government of the United States from the top down. And I believe that the men who designed these, the men who designed the free-fire zone, the men who ordered us, the men who signed off the air raid strike areas, I think these men, by the letter of the law, the same letter of the law that tried Lieutenant Calley, are war criminals.

(End videotape)

MR. RUSSERT: You committed atrocities.

SEN. KERRY: Where did all that dark hair go, Tim? That's a big question for me. You know, I thought a lot, for a long time, about that period of time, the things we said, and I think the word is a bad word. I think it's an inappropriate word. I mean, if you wanted to ask me have you ever made mistakes in your life, sure. I think some of the language that I used was a language that reflected an anger. It was honest, but it was in anger, it was a little bit excessive.

MR. RUSSERT: You used the word "war criminals."

SEN. KERRY: Well, let me just finish. Let me must finish. It was, I think, a reflection of the kind of times we found ourselves in and I don't like it when I hear it today. I don't like it, but I want you to notice that at the end, I wasn't talking about the soldiers and the soldiers' blame, and my great regret is, I hope no soldier--I mean, I think some soldiers were angry at me for that, and I understand that and I regret that, because I love them. But the words were honest but on the other hand, they were a little bit over the top. And I think that there were breaches of the Geneva Conventions. There were policies in place that were not acceptable according to the laws of warfare, and everybody knows that. I mean, books have chronicled that, so I'm not going to walk away from that. But I wish I had found a way to say it in a less abrasive way.

MR. RUSSERT: But, Senator, when you testified before the Senate, you talked about some of the hearings you had observed at the winter soldiers meeting and you said that people had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and on and on. A lot of those stories have been discredited, and in hindsight was your testimony...

SEN. KERRY: Actually, a lot of them have been documented.

MR. RUSSERT: So you stand by that?

SEN. KERRY: A lot of those stories have been documented. Have some been discredited? Sure, they have, Tim. The problem is that's not where the focus should have been....
So which is it, Senator Kerry? Are you a liar and perjurer or an admitted war criminal?

Google and Kerry in Cahoots?

It seems Kerry is buying advertising on a Google search of the term waffles. His site still doesn't show up consistently as #1 despite our clearly having enough support for Kerry to top off the list at Google, and now the left's google bomb of the term waffle shows up in the top 20 at google after only 5 or 6 days. As far as I have been able to tell, only 3 or 4 lib sites are actually participating in that google bomb (of course many more must be participating, but technorati sure isn't finding them.) The left is also apparently google bombing the term waffles in addition to waffle and have been able to get into the top 10 on yahoo and lycos. I am not going to say that something isn't quite right about all of this, I'll leave it to you to decide.

Added to the waffles campaign since the last update:
No Mayo
Dave's Mostly Mets Blog
Liberal Utopia
Pennsylvanian In Exile
Mt Virtus
Paul's Down Home Page
There are many more, but I don't have time to keep looking all of the participants up. Email me if you know of a site not on the list.

Google Bomb Update

Esoteric Diatribe
Waffles

It looks like the left is having some success with their waffle bomb. Odd, the President has kept his word on every issue I can think of: Medicare, Education, Tax Cuts, The War on Terror, Iraq... John waffles Kerry, on the other hand, has been waffling on America's Security, our Soldiers Safety, the state of the Economy, his Vietnam War History, the status of America's Enemies, Tax Cuts, this list could go on ad naseum. The response from the left, although unoriginal and unbefitting of President Bush, is not unexpected. In fact, with any luck it will help raise awareness to the problems with Google Bombing.

We are going to need more support if we want to keep John waffles Kerry on top. If you know a webmaster who doesn't want the White House to become the Waffle House, get them on board and let me know so I can add them to the list.

Web searchers continue to sporadically find John waffles Kerry atop the results of Google. These results are still not consistent, but would seem to indicate that Google is NOT discriminating against the waffles campaign. Want to see how we are doing?

It is amazing how many people are participating in the waffles campaign without letting me know... not that people have to tell me or anything, I just like to give people credit for participating. Technorati has been wonderful for finding participants who haven't notified me. Here are some of the site who are participating but had not notified me of their contribution:

Quotes Thoughts and Other Ramblings

Google Bomb Day 13

Well, we are one day shy of being 2 weeks into the waffles campaign. We dominated every major search engine, including Google, if only briefly. Speaking of Google, Mark Memmot, of USA Today, was nice enough to forward a question I had to the search engine expert from the article. Google says
Each time we update our database of web page (about once a month), our index shifts: we find new sites, we lose some sites, and site rankings change... If you happen to enter the same query repeatedly while we are in the process of posting the index at our various data centers around the country, it might seem like you are seeing inconsistent results from Google. What is actually happening is that you are seeing a result from an 'old' version of our index one time and a result from a 'new' version the next. Due to the size of our index, we can not simultaneously post a new index at all of our data centers, which may result in this behavior for a short period of time
So we may actually be #1 at google, as many of us have seen for ourselves, and this could be explained as Google not updating all their servers yet... But...
If your page does not appear at all, here are some other possible explanations.

Your page was manually removed from our index, because it did not conform with the quality standards necessary to assign accurate PageRank. We will not comment on the individual reasons a page was removed and we do not offer an exhaustive list of practices that can cause removal. However, certain actions such as cloaking, writing text that can be seen by search engines but not by users, or setting up pages/links with the sole purpose of fooling search engines [emphasis added] may result in permanent removal from our index. If you think your site may fall into this category, you might try 'cleaning up' the page and sending a re-inclusion request to help@google.com. We do not make any guarantees about if or when we will re-include your site.
Sooooo... either they just haven't updated all their indexes, or they are selectively discriminating against this particular google bomb while leaving up sites like Jew Watch (disgusting) in a search of the term Jew. I really can't say for sure which is going on. Only time will tell.

UPDATE - CHECK THIS OUT

In other news, the waffles campaign received some local ink. The article was pretty funny, too. Check it out.

I have been informed of some international coverage, check out: Guardian Unlimited.

Google Bomb Day 12

Esoteric Diatribe
Waffles

I have no clue what is going on at Google. People keep seeing John waffles Kerry coming up as #1 on Google, but I still do not get consistent results. Every few hours it seems someone gets waffles to come up with Kerry's name but it is just not consistent. I do not know if it is a matter of Google updating its servers or what. Maybe Google doesn't want the world to know how quickly its search engine can be manipulated =Þ

We are always proud to have new sites join the campaign. New today is:
Kerry Waffles
Move on Lies . org
Chiblogo Politico
Slobokan's site of schtuff
Weapons of Mass Discussion

The waffles campaign is getting more attention, even by sources that don't know anything about it.

SUCCESS?!? Google Bomb Update Day 11

Esoteric Diatribe
Waffles

Incredible! I could hardly believe it when sisu, BUSH Over Kerry, and others were reporting that we were #1 at Google. I'd checked a few hours ago and we were still not showing up at all. It seems it takes a while for all of Google's servers to be updated. I have confirmed it, though, we are #1.

11 days to conquer the internet. We have dominated:
MSN
Yahoo!
Lycos
Alta Vista
and now Google!!!!

So, what does this mean? Is the waffles campaign over? Nope... Not by a long shot. We need everyone to keep the waffles links up till November so that the People don't forget come election day. We also are going to need more sites to join if we want to fend off the lefties who are trying to counter the waffles campaign.

Update: I just checked all of my links, and we aren't showing up at Google now. Also, a friend no longer sees us at Yahoo! But we are still #1 on yahoo when I check... can someone explain this?

Here is part of the screenshot I took this afternoon. I have been able to get a waffles search to show up with Kerry's site on two occasions, but it won't show up most of the time. As far as I can tell, there is no explanation for this. Here is the pic.

The Left Strikes Back

Not to be outdone, the geniuses over on the left have hatched a brilliant plan to retaliate. The Masterminds behind the response from the left have decided to... do exactly what we are doing, just aim it at President Bush instead. Imagine that! Brilliant! How original! Boy these guys are clever… *Yawn*

I don't know of a single conservative who has challenged President Bush as wavering or waffling on the issues. As I said in USA Today, I believe President Bush is a man of conviction and a man of his word. This evening the President has said of himself that he is a man of conviction. That he will not let opinion polls dictate his policy. I believe the President AND I believe in this President. This site wouldn't exist in its current form if I did not.

Now lets look at Kerry. His own party has identified him as a waffler . Senator Joe Lieberman, a Democrat for whom I have a great deal of respect if for no other reason than he is consistent and he doesn't waiver when it comes to America's security, coined the phrase which we have embraced AND agree with. Kerry waffles . He is a waffler. This has been documented on several sites before I ever started the waffles campaign.

To compare Bush to Kerry is to compare day with night. Right with wrong. Good with ... I'm sure you know where this is going. I believe intelligent people can disagree as to whether Kerry could be a good leader. I do not fault people who might like Kerry for reasons beyond my understanding. I do have a problem with the irrational hatred aimed at our President. I do have a problem with the 'anyone but Bush' mentality. If the left had chosen perhaps Lieberman or Edwards to represent them in the 2004 election I would not have started a waffles campaign. I wouldn't have had a reason to. The simple reality is this: Kerry will say anything to get elected. He will and has lied. He has waffled time and again. John Kerry does not have America’s best interests in mind. John Kerry only has his own interests in mind… And John Kerry brings a far-left, borderline extremist, ultra liberal agenda with him.

Will we win the Waffles War? I can’t say for sure. I guess we will see where there is more support on the internet. I think we can win, but not unless everyone participates. I seriously recommend permanent links on all participants’ front pages. It only takes a second to add this to your template.

Hat tip to sisu for emailing me the tip.

Google Bomb Day 10

Esoteric Diatribe
Waffles

Larry from Extreme Psychosis informed me that we are #1 at Yahoo! That is pretty amazing seeing as this site didn't exist two weeks ago but today has dominated the top search engines.... except Google. I wonder why we haven't made any ground there - we have moved so quickly on the other search engines.

Anyway, I'm pleased to welcome the following sites to the campaign:
Ramblings of a Jackhole
Blackfive
a few thought on the subject
flfe: join the campaign
erod.com
little bugler
In a Mays
Brain Shavings
The Gantry Launchpad
Yih
Nuh
Buy a Bucket
Wide Eyed Insolence
Slashdot Journal
If you joined and I neglected to add you to the list, send me another email and I'll put you up when I get the chance.

I came across this forum today while browsing search engines. There are some pretty funny pics there. Also sisu has a new pic up. If anyone was wondering about the pic I posted yesterday, it is a spoof of a campaign poster over at John Waffles Kerry's site (in the college section). I changed the text and added Ho Chi Minh and Al Sadr to the pic. At least we can find one topic on which Kerry doesn't seem to waffle... too bad it entails comforting the enemy.

I was informed we were mentioned on Snopes.com. Is that a famous site or not? I don't really know to be honest.

Another Day, Another Picture

Well... the hate mail has started coming in. You get published in one national newspaper and the haters start coming out of the woodwork. It seems to be coming primarily from the Anti-War nuts as opposed to run of the mill Democrats. Anyway, Kerry wants to run on his past so I am gonna work to expose him for what he is.

You may have read about Kerry having called Al Sadr a "legitimate voice" in Iraq. I saw it here & here & several other places. You can actually listen to the audio here. Amazingly, but not surprisingly , Kerry waffles during the actual statement, first calling Al Sadr a legitimate voice, then, perhaps realizing what he had done, Kerry waffled and squirmed a bit before stating that Al Sadr might better be called "a voice" in Iraq.

National Coverage

USA Today is the first national news agency to cover the waffles campaign! Read about it here.

Wow... the internet story has a much better pic... the printed version shows the miserable failure pic and not the waffles search results. Oh well.

Overall a pretty good story. He didn't mention my ultimate goal of raising awareness of the potential abuse of google bombs by extremists to influence how people see the world, I get into that here, but most of his quotes were about right and he let someone else make that point. I commend him for finding me so quickly. Esoteric Diatribe had only been online 3 days when he first contacted me to ask for an interview.

If our campaign gets any other press coverage, email me a link, I'd love to see it.

Larry Morrin of Extreme Psychosis has informed me that we are back at #2 on Yahoo. He also made sure I received a Screen Shot. Thanks Larry.

Not quite sure why we fell off yesterday, but we are back on top. See how we are doing: Yahoo! MSN Lycos. We are going to need a lot more participants to get this high in the results on Google.

I may update again this evening, if not tomorrow.

Google Bomb Update - Esoteric Diatribe 1 Week Old

Things can certainly change in 24 hours. Yesterday, on Yahoo, a search for Waffles had John Kerry as the second result. Today we do not even show up in the top 100. The same can be said of lycos where we were the number 4 result yesterday. One of a few things can account for this; either they updated their web indexes and added several thousand pages, the participants do not all have a John Waffles Kerry link still up, or Yahoo & Lycos has some Kerry supporters who did not find the Google Bomb particularly interesting. Miserable Failure does lead to George Bush, though, so unless they made a special exception to get rid of our site, we probably just need more supporters to get back on top there. I will start up with the emails again.

NOTE: WE ARE BACK AT #2

On MSN we have moved up to result #3.

On Google, My website no longer appears in the top 50. Esoteric Diatribe now appears in the top 20 in a search for waffles. John Waffles Kerry's site still does not appear in the top 100 on Google, but we don't expect to crack the top 100 before the primaries.

I wish I had taken a screen shot of JohnKerry.com as number 2 on a Yahoo search. I didn't think it would fall completely off the charts in only one day. I won't make that mistake again.

If anything in this campaign is certain, we are going to need more participants to accomplish our goal. Get the word out.

Who started it?

So, you may be wondering... who started this whole thing by calling John Waffles Kerry a waffler?
Does anybody know?
Anybody?

Posted with permission from Pritchett Cartoons
Yeah! You guessed it. Joe Lieberman.

So what can be learned from all of this? Well, John Waffles Kerry is now stuck with a reputation for Waffling, which he came by honestly enough; but the phrase was coined first by one of his own colleagues who used it against him. Perhaps in the future the Democrats, and Republicans, will learn from this gaff. Negative politics and name calling have no place in a serious candidate's campaign... ESPECIALLY IN THE PRIMARIES. Maybe if the Democrat candidates had focused more on discovering issues and less on casting each other, and the President, in a negative light, Kerry would have a better issue than the economy... which is smokin right now. If John Waffles Kerry's best issue is the job rate and economy then this campaign season should be a breeze.

What others are saying about Esoteric Diatribe

As of 11:30PM tonight, this site will have been up a full 4 days and start into its 5th day. So far, Esoteric Diatribe has been an amazing success. In under 4 full days, this site has been linked to and been mentioned on countless websites. An average of 8 sites per day have joined the campaign, and John Kerry's Official Election website is already showing up on google queries with Kerry's name and the term waffles. Of course our ultimate goal is for the term 'waffles' alone and by itself lead to the John Kerry election website.

On average, 100 - 110 people have viewed this site per day. This is certainly not what I was expecting when I named the site esoteric diatribe. I had also hoped to post more commentary on news and current events, but this Google Bomb has taken off and become the top priority. After the election, I will refocus on current events and news stories. In the mean time I want the waffles campaign to be a success.

I have decided to take a look at what other participating sites have said about the campaign:
To kick off the look at participating sites, we will start with democrats give conservatives indigestion

True to their word, dcgi now uses the word waffles instead of John Kerry in every post that references him. These guys now how to make a google bomb a success.

Ben's World has generated a lot of traffic for Esoteric Diatribe. Ben wrote
Google Bomb!
Yes, it's time for me to fulfill my civic duty and raise the profile of people who consistently waffle. Esoteric Diatribe has asked for support in starting this Google bomb campaign. Therefore, from now on, John Kerry will be referred to as Waffles. After all, it would be a tragedy to see the White House become the Waffle House. Now, normally, waffles are a good thing. In fact, I tend to prefer my waffles with strawberries and whipped cream. However, Waffles' waffles are not the kind we all want. Say no to Waffles in November!

Esoteric Diatribe couldn't agree more. Your post, along with dgic, helped inspire this post

ipse dixit has the right idea. If ALL conservative websites wrote John Waffles Kerry, instead of John F'n Kerry & some of the variants we have all seen, then the waffles campaign would be much more likely to succeed.

patriot paradox has referred to Esoteric Diatribe as "...a new blogger that shows much promise." Thanks for the praise, I appreciate the support.

New sites added since the last post include:

Why are we doing this? I am trying to start a Google-Bomb campaign amongst conservative bloggers in retaliation for the whole miserable failure thing. Be sure to spread the word. I began this campaign with about 50 emails. I will continue sending more until our goal is achieved. Thanks to all who are participating and getting the word out. At the end of the week I will write a mammoth post highlighting what others have said about this campaign so far.

Join the campaign! Add this link to your blog or website! waffles. Email me to let me know if you have joined the campaign and I will add you to my list of participants.

IMPORTANT NOTICE!!!!! Only one link is necessary to make this campaign a success. Typing it again and again is helpful in gaining people's attention, but is not necessary for Google counting purposes. Also, this is spreading at a good speed, and I expect it to spread even faster by the end of the week. In order to make this a lasting success, we need to have at least one permanent link (or a waffles link everytime you mention kerry, which will ensure it is on once a week till election) somewhere on the front page. I have several, but that is only to grab people's attention. For bloggers with really large webpages, if you can find a nook or cranny to make this 'waffles' a permanent link, then our odds of success are much, much higher.

Comments Section Added

You can now leave comments after each post. Hopefully tomorrow I can discuss something that isn't the Google Bomb campaign.

Google Bomb Update

Well, I have sent about 50 emails to try to get the ball rolling. So far, the people at democrats give conservatives indigestion and Barking Moonbat have joined the campaign and have posted stories about it. I will send some more emails out about it tomorrow.

Join the campaign! Add this link to your blog! waffles. Email me to let me know if you have joined the campaign and I will add you to my list of participants. Hey, it turns out we aren't the first conservatives to do a google bomb, check it out: Google Search 'great president'

In the News

Here are some of the stories I am looking at:

9 11 Panel says finding will be "Surprising" They also promise that there will be no leaks during the campaign. If you'll buy that I have some excellent property in Brooklyn I'd like to show you.

Kerry is trying to spin the good economic data I'm shocked, really.

Riots & Protests over election See what the Democrats have started? Except now we have to try to determine whether a protest justified. Regardless of whether a particular contested election was the real result, this sort of thing is exactly what the far left wants... to constantly cast doubt upon the democratic process, incite rioting, protesting, and anarchy, and using conspiracy and fear against the masses.

Another Book Accuses Bush of Corruption More baseless allegations, this time from a convicted criminal tied to Watergate. This whole publish lies about the President gig seems to be a cash cow. The left's irrational hatred of Bush and want to believe any bad story about him is allowing unscrupulous authors to score big. When books with titles like Dude, Where's My Country pass as a credible source among many Americans, you can be assured, there is a serious problem.

All Gore Loses, Again This outta cheer someone up.

Now with Pictures!

Nice little PhotoShop image.

On a serious note, I'm not sure how to categorize the 9/11 commission and all of the Congressional Inquiries into 9/11 intelligence and pre-Iraq War intelligence. Two terms immediately come to mind, though. Witch Hunt and Fishing expedition. Stuff like this doesn't help anything. My suggestion to Powell would be to keep quiet. Adding fuel to the partisan fires is not the best election year strategy. Rather than admitting to being wrong, why not turn the question around and focus on where the weapons went since they no longer appear to be in Iraq *ahem* *cough* *cough* Syria *cough*

Cyber-Warfare

This is the information age and a major war over public opinion is being waged. It seems apparent that a major casualty of this war came in 1999 when the first ever Google-bomb resulted in the first major casualty of this war... the truth.

You may remember reading a few months back how some democrats, working with liberal bloggers, were able to make the Google search, 'miserable failure' lead to the White House biography of George W. Bush. As a Bush supporter, I can agree with the left: that was pretty funny?. But what are the long term implications of Google Bombing?

Google downplays this problem, saying
We're only seeing it with obscure queries where there's really not that much action on the Web about them,' said Craig Silverstein, Google's director of technology. 'I don't think it's possible to do this sort of thing on queries with well-defined results like ' I.B.M.' So given that it only affects one query out of the more than 200 million a day we handle, it's hard to see it becoming much of a problem.

I cannot agree. This seems to be a major problem. In terms of current events and searching for news stories, you can only find websites that agree with and or google-link sites to the query you are searching for. This allows for organized disinformation campaigns; it is going on even as we speak. Type in 'jew' into a google search engine. Instead of the top site discussing this great religeon and culture, or even sites discussing the terrible tragedy that was the Holocaust, the first result, Jew Watch, is a disguesting, hatefilled, site whose first place ranking undoubtedly was the result of Google Bombing by extremists who amount to nothing more than cyber terrorists in the war over public opinion. Google should be ashamed of a system that allows such rubbsih to become the number one link.

It seems like the end result of all of this is that the truth is doomed to become hopelessly obscured by special interests trying to spin the results of the most popular search engine in the world to favor their point of view. Perhaps the scariest reality in all of this is that America's youth are growing up on the web and becoming entirely dependent on search engines as a source of news and sources for their research papers. The young and impressionable likely do not have the skills required to wade through all of the lies to find the truth. Then again, they aren't much better off reading the garbage printed in the NYT. Its a sad, sad world.

Let it be noted, though, that I am trying to start my very own Google-Bomb campaign amongst conservative bloggers in retaliation for the whole miserable failure thing. You can participate by putting this link waffles up on your own blogsite.
