I've been seeing much ado about how the young vote was a no-show, again, in the past election. This has a lot of people riled up... it doesn't bother me even a little bit.
I know that I am in that lot and I voted. My older brother, younger sister, girl-friend, and a strong majority of my close friends all voted in this election.
All the young people I know who showed up to vote likely voted for Bush and other conservative candidates. I know a lot of young people who detest Bush, but very few of them liked Kerry, so I don't know if they had a strong reason to show up to vote.
I think a lot of the 25 and under crowd had the ABB - anybody but Bush - mentality. Well they were plenty motivated against Bush, but they didn't have a candidate that could motivate them to get out to the polls... not liking Bush is simply not enough to get young people out to the polls, they have to have a candidate that can excite them enough to want to go out and vote. I was excited to vote for Bush. I felt great as I exited the polls.
