I suppose it doesn't get much bigger than this... Retired Four Star General Tommy Franks is refuting the erroneous assertions made by Senator Kerry in all 3 debates. Thrice Senator Kerry got away with saying that Bush let Bin Laden get away and thrice Senator Kerry accused Bush of "outsourcing" US soldier's jobs (by relying on allies... go figure, Kerry is all about allies, except when Bush does it... Kerry calls that outsourcing) to what Kerry called former Taliban soldiers, which Kerry had claimed had been fighting for the other side just weeks earlier.
In the ultraliberal news publication known as the New York Times, Tommy Franks wrote:
I was responsible for the operation at Tora Bora, and I can tell you that the senator's understanding of events doesn't square with reality
The Retired Four Star General went on to add
We don't know to this day whether Mr. bin Laden was at Tora Bora in December 2001. Some intelligence sources said he was; others indicated he was in Pakistan at the time; still others suggested he was in Kashmir.
I am currently looking for the entire letter to the NYT's. I don't want to link the NYT if I can avoid it.
